October 2022 Newsletter
Hello!
Can you believe that we have nearly finished our first half term of the year. So many things have happened since we came back in September. We welcomed Kris as our new owner, Zahida as our deputy manager, said a sad goodbye to Zoe as she goes off on maternity leave, welcomed Hannah to cover her while she is away and had lots of new children start with us. This has obviously been
a very busy time for us all and we feel like we are finally finding our feet. During this time there has also been a lot of learning and playing too!
Clothing.
It’s starting to feel very Autumnal out there so can you please ensure that your child comes to preschool appropriately dressed for the weather and with a warm coat as we go outside in all conditions. Could you also please make sure that ALL clothing is labelled, including coats and bags, as we have a few children with the same items and it can get quite confusing for everyone. Please don’t worry about having fancy name labels, their name written in marker pen will do.
Illness
Now we are in Autumn and approaching Winter, we are likely to see more childhood illnesses. All children get coughs and colds and if they feel well in themselves they are welcome to attend preschool. If they need dosing up with Calpol, then at home resting, is probably the best place for them until they feel well again. If your child is unable to attend preschool could you please contact us in the morning to let us know that they won’t be in and the reason why. Please note, we WILL NOT be able to administer Calpol at preschool.
Tapestry.
As you know we are going to be using Tapestry to document your child's learning, to share with you. We are having a few teething problems and are in the process of making sure that all staff members know how to use it. We have many pictures to share, from the last few weeks, so I ask that you bear with us for a little longer while we sort everything out. We are very excited to show you what we have been up to. If you have any questions the best people to speak to are Kris or Zahida as they have used Tapestry previously.
Facebook.
We had to delete our old Facebook group as Sam was the previous admin and we have set up a new group with Becki as the admin. This will be used to put up pictures (having gained permission first) and any useful information. If you would like to join the group, search for Parents of Loudwater Village Pre-School. You may have to scroll through a list to find us. You will only be accepted if you are a parent of a child currently attending preschool.
School Admissions.
It is that time of year again! For those children who are due to start school in September 2023 now is the start of the admission process. Schools have released the dates for their open days for you to go and have a look around. A list of the open days can be found on the website of the school you wish to visit. Applications opened in September and the deadline for you choices and address evidence is midnight on the 15th January 2023. If you have any questions or need any assistance please ask.
Noticeboard
We are updating our lobby noticeboard. On it you will find who your child’s key worker is, the snack menu for the week, our plans for the week (these are subject to change based on the child’s interests!), a copy of the newsletter and any reminders.
